1.  Operation Polo:

Operation Polo took place in 1948 in Hyderabad, India.

 It involved the Indian armed forces intervening to end the rule of the Nizam of Hyderabad and integrate the princely state of Hyderabad, located in southern India, into the Indian Union.

The operation marked the annexation of Hyderabad and its formal integration into the newly independent Republic of India.

 

 

2    Golden Temple Raid I 1955   

Punjab To curb the Punjabi Suba Morcha.

The Golden Temple Raid (also known as Operation Blue Star) took place in 1984, not 1955.

 The operation was carried out in the state of Punjab, India.

 It aimed to remove the Sikh militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his associates from the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar, Punjab.

 The operation was not related to the Punjabi Suba Morcha, which was a peaceful political movement advocating for the creation of a Punjabi-speaking state within India and eventually led to the formation of Punjab as a separate state in 1966.

 

 

3    Operation Vijay 1961

5    Amalgamation of Sikkim       

The Amalgamation of Sikkim took place when the Indian Army disarmed and disbanded the Royal Guard of the Sikkimese King.

Following this action, Sikkim became a part of India as a new state.

 This marked the formal integration of Sikkim into the Indian Union.

 

 

6    Operation Blue Star    1984   

Operation Blue Star, conducted in 1984 in the state of Punjab, aimed to remove the Sikh militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his associates from the Harmandir Sahib complex in Amritsar, Punjab.

8    Operation Red Rose   1984   

Operation Red Rose, conducted in 1984 in Punjab, India, was another military operation aimed at addressing the rising Sikh militancy in the region.

The operation involved security forces' efforts to restore law and order in Punjab during a period marked by increased violence and insurgency

 

 

9    Operation Shivalik      1985   

Operation Shivalik took place in 1985 and extended beyond Punjab, covering states such as Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, particularly in the Terai regions.

 The primary objective of this operation was to capture Sikh militant leaders who had moved outside the boundaries of Punjab. During the operation, one Sikh militant was captured and detained, and 38 individuals who were sympathizers or associated with the militants were also detained.

This operation was part of the efforts to address the Sikh militancy issue that extended beyond Punjab's borders.

 

 

10  Operation Black Thunder I 1986 

Operation Black Thunder I took place in 1986 in the state of Punjab, India. It was conducted to capture the Golden Temple complex, which was suspected of harboring militants.

 Notably, there were no casualties reported on the militant side during the operation.

However, tragically, two civilians and one soldier lost their lives during the operation.


 

11  Operation Pacification      1986   

Operation Pacification, conducted in 1986 in the state of Punjab, India, aimed to restore peace and order in the region during a period marked by Sikh militancy and violence.

 The operation's primary objective was to pacify and control the situation in Punjab, where there were ongoing security concerns and efforts to address the militant activities.

 

 

12  Operation Mand   1986   

Operation Mand carried out in 1986 in the state of Punjab, India, had the specific objective of capturing or eliminating Sikh militant Avatar Singh Bramha.

 Unfortunately, during the operation, one helicopter was lost, but no militants were detained or captured.

 

 

 

13  Operation Bluebird 1987 info

Operation Bluebird, conducted in 1987 in the state of Manipur, India, was an Indian military retaliation operation in response to the 1987 attacks on the Assam Rifles' outpost.

The operation aimed to respond to the attacks and restore security in the region, particularly in Manipur.

 

 

14  Golden Temple Raid II      1987   

The Golden Temple Raid II, which occurred in 1987 in the state of Punjab, was based on a rumor that Sikh militant Gurjit Singh might be present within the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar.

However, after conducting the operation, Gurjit Singh was not found in the complex.

 

 

15  Operation Pawan 1987   

Operation Pawan, conducted in 1987, was an operation by the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka. I

ts objective was to take control of the city of Jaffna from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as part of the Indo-Sri Lankan Accord.

This operation was carried out to enforce the disarmament of the LTTE and bring stability to the region.

Additionally, Operation Viraat occurred in 1988, following Operation Pawan. It was an anti-insurgency operation launched by the IPKF against the LTTE in Northern Sri Lanka, aimed at further addressing the ongoing conflict and insurgency in the area.

 

 

16  Operation Black Thunder II 1988

Operation Black Thunder II, conducted in 1988 in Punjab, India, was aimed at capturing the Golden Temple complex, which had been occupied by militants.

During the operation, over 90 militants surrendered, but unfortunately, two soldiers lost their lives, and many militants managed to escape.

This operation was part of ongoing efforts to address the situation at the Golden Temple during a period of Sikh militancy.

 

 

17  Operation Night Dominance  1990-1994

25  Indian counter-insurgency operation in Myanmar    2015   

In 2015, the Indian Army allegedly conducted a counter-insurgency operation in Myanmar. This operation was reported to involve a "hot pursuit" of the Naga terror outfit NSCN-Khaplang along the India-Myanmar border.

The objective was likely to target and neutralize the militant group and address security concerns along the border



26  Operation Calm Down 2016

 This operation was part of ongoing efforts to address security challenges and maintain law and order in the region, particularly in the context of the complex and longstanding conflict in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

 

27  Operation Randori Behak 2020   

Operation Randori Behak carried out in 2020 in the region of Jammu and Kashmir, was aimed at addressing specific security concerns in the area.

 Unfortunately, I don't have specific details available for this operation as it occurred after my knowledge cutoff date in September 2021.

28  Operation Devi Shakti 2021   

Operation Devi Shakti, conducted in 2021, had a multi-faceted objective that included helping Hindus and Sikhs flee from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

This operation aimed to provide assistance and support to these minority communities as they sought refuge in India, particularly in the regions of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi.

Additionally, it appears that the operation also extended to provide support in Afghanistan. Its primary focus was on humanitarian efforts to aid those displaced by the situation in Afghanistan and ensure their safety and well-being.



29  Operation Ganga  2022    Ukraine

Operation Ganga was an evacuation mission carried out by the Indian government to rescue its citizens stranded in neighboring countries during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

 The citizens were transported from Romania, Hungary, Poland, Moldova, and Slovakia to India with assistance from these countries. India maintained a neutral stance during the invasion, not supporting either Russia or Ukraine.

 

 

30  Operation Ajay  2023

India announced the launch of "Operation Ajay" on Wednesday to help Indians stuck in Israel return home as fresh tension triggered in the region as Hamas militants made a series of brazen attacks on Israeli towns over the weekend.

As per the External Affairs Ministry, around 18,000 Indians are currently residing in Israel.
